It's Your Birthday, Charlie Brown!

Well, really, it's my beloved K.'s birthday.  Right now, we're in the middle of our "find the card" game.  We typically buy five or six greeting cards for birthdays, and anniversaries (we celebrate two, marriage and move-in together), and we distribute them around the house for the other to find.  I've outdone myself this year -- one is in the mailbox, and when she gets the mail, she'll find it.

Birthday present is the widescreen, two-disc Phantom of the Opera.  We both love the music, and the movie version was spectacular.  An added bonus -- with a recorded soundtrack, they were able to get the lyrics very nicely distinct.  On the Broadway soundtrack album, it isn't always clear what's being sung.

Yesterday, we saw Fantastic Four.  It's a movie made from a comic book, and about as good/bad as most of them.  A lot of people are down on it for some reason, but I enjoyed it.  I just didn't enjoy it a lot, or consider it a great film.

Oh, among the previews was one for an upcoming animated Tim Burton film, Corpse Bride.  Looks very good.  The preview for Sky High, which is a sort of live-action Incredibles, seemed fair, as did Ice Age 2: The Meltdown, which I've seen the preview for before.  And there were posters up for a Terry Gilliam movie of the Grimm fairy tales that looked intriguing.  On the other hand, Transporter 2, and The New World, are right out, and The Island is probably on our "skip it" list too.  There was a seventh preview for something I can't remember, so it probably wasn't much.

It's been very hot and muggy here (Thank You, God, for creating air conditioning).  Hope the weather's nice where you are.
